Workforce training

The Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) program has been revamped is now offered at two progressing levels so students complete training in six months, meeting from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM two nights per week.  Individuals will provide their own personal safety glasses for Module II.

Courses -

HVAC I

HVAC I includes instruction in safety, the basic tools specific to the HVAC industry, the physics behind the refrigeration process, the basic refrigeration components, refrigerants, oils, and the effect on the environment. Preparation for the EPA exam is also covered. Completion of both HVAC I and II provides the student with a broad understanding of the refrigeration/HVAC process and an excellent foundation for pursuing a profitable career in the industry.  

 

HVAC II

HVAC II has hands on practice and instruction on the skills of soldering and brazing using oxy/acetylene equipment as well as air/acetylene torches. The flaring and swaging of copper tubing, leak testing and leak detection/repair. Reading electrical prints, wiring, and troubleshooting wiring and refrigeration equipment is covered. Lock out and workplace safety are covered as well as continued preparation for the EPA exam.  Completion of both HVAC I and II provides the student with a broad understanding of the refrigeration/HVAC process and an excellent foundation for pursuing a profitable career in the industry.
