Registration & Advising

The faculty and staff at East Mississippi Community College believe strongly in the importance of academic advising as a core component of our educational mission. As a result, EMCC is pleased to offer Counseling & Advising Centers on both the Scooba and Golden Triangle Campuses. Both centers are staffed with friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate Academic Advisors whose main job is to assist students in defining their academic and career goals.

While the Counseling & Advising Center is open year-round for all students, current and prospective, there are two pertinent times students must check in with their advisor—the first is the pre-orientation period for all new, incoming students. If you are a first-time, full-time freshman, a transfer student, or a University student taking just one or two classes at EMCC, you must make an appointment with an advisor to officially register for classes at EMCC. This registration process takes place in mid-November through mid-December for spring classes. Registration for summer and fall classes generally begins in early April and runs through mid-summer. Current students will meet with their advisor mid-way through the semester to register for the following semester and review their degree progress.
