|Workforce Services offers a variety of training for individuals in the fields of healthcare, manufacturing, technical and computer applications. |
The WorkKeys® test is required for entry into all training classes for individuals, with the exception of Computer Applications. The WorkKeys® test is a three-part, computer-based test consisting of Reading for Information, Applied Math and Locating Information. The cost of the test is $50. Testing is scheduled on a weekly basis and you must register at least one week prior to your preferred testing date. The cost of retesting on a section is $20 per section.
Individuals who successfully pass the WorkKeys® test will be issued a National Career Readiness Certification, a portable, evidence-based credential that measures essential workplace skills and is a reliable predictor of workplace success. Individuals can earn four levels of NCRC based on their test performance – Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The NCRC allows you to show prospective employers that you possess the basic skills they are looking for. The NCRC further verifies that you can handle the kinds of tasks - locating information, reading instructions and directions, and working with figures - that are common in today's workplace. The NCRC is based upon WorkKeys®, a nationally recognized skills assessment tool developed by ACT Inc®.
Career Ready 101®, a free online pretest assessment, is available for anyone who wishes to determine their approximate WorkKeys level prior to taking the WorkKeys test or wishes to work on their basic skills prior to testing. The Career Ready 101® can be done by an individual at home. We can also refer you to the Adult Basic Eduation Department to help you prepare for the test or to retest in a specific subject matter.
To sign up for the free Career Ready 101®, or to schedule your WorkKeys® test date, please register at the Workforce Services front desk located in the CMTE Building on the Golden Triangle Campus.
