  • Industry leaders briefed on new cross-training initiative

    About 30 officials from 15 industries toured EMCC's Electrical Technology and Automation & Control departments during an open house at the Golden Triangle campus. One of the main reasons for the open house was to spread awareness about a collaboration by the two departments to cross-train interested students in both fields.

  • Golden Triangle campus to host MI-BEST open house

    East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus will host an open house Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. to raise awareness about the MI-BEST program. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the commons area of the CMTE building. The open house is scheduled to coincide with MI-BEST week, which runs Oct. 17-21.

  • MI-BEST student ready to pursue a career in welding

    In June, 19-year-old Megan Traweek arrived at EMCC with no high school diploma. But she enrolled in the MI-BEST program, and worked on her GED and Manufacturing Skills Certification at the same time. Now she's begun a series of four Workforce welding modules and plans to earn an associate's degree in welding at EMCC. Megan Traweek has a plan.

  • EMCC and Blue Mountain College sign articulation agreement

    A new articulation agreement between East Mississippi Community College and Blue Mountain College will enable EMCC students who have earned Associate of Applied Science degrees in career-technical programs to transfer easily to Blue Mountain College. The agreement was signed Sept. 22 by EMCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner and BMC President Dr. Barbara C. McMillin during a ceremony at Lion Hills Center in Columbus.
