  • Automotive student takes national gold at SkillsUSA contest

    EMCC student Nick Ferrell of West Point beat out competitors from colleges and universities across the U.S. to take top honors in the SkillsUSA Championships in the Automotive Technology Services division. The competition took place June 20-24 at the 52nd Annual National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Ky.

  • Next JourneyEAST orientation session ... July 15

    The next JourneyEast orientation session for incoming fall semester freshmen will be July 15. Students and their parents tour the Golden Triangle or Scooba campus, get info packets and meet with current EMCC students, who give them tips about making a successful transition to college life. Register for the fall semester to reserve a spot in the July 15 session.

  • Electrical Technology: Pastor "lit up" by new vocation

    A Columbus pastor with a knack for working with his hands has enrolled at EMCC to pursue a new calling. Charles Mullins, 48, decided to add a level to his work life after a chance meeting with EMCC Electrical Technology instructor Bobby Johnson. In December, Mullins will graduate with an Associate of Applied Science degree ... and he's got a job waiting.

  • Scooba: New tuition-free workforce program to begin in July

    A new pilot program at EMCC's Scooba campus to provide tuition-free workforce training to Kemper County residents is set to begin in July. And an upper age limit has lifted, opening the classes to many more people. The announcement was made June 2 during a public meeting at the Scooba campus about the Step 2 Success program.
