  • EMCC and Blue Mountain College sign articulation agreement

    A new articulation agreement between East Mississippi Community College and Blue Mountain College will enable EMCC students who have earned Associate of Applied Science degrees in career-technical programs to transfer easily to Blue Mountain College. The agreement was signed Sept. 22 by EMCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner and BMC President Dr. Barbara C. McMillin during a ceremony at Lion Hills Center in Columbus.

  • Graduate starts new job: Machining isn't "run of the mill"

    Starkville resident Matt Collins took a chance when he enrolled in Precision Manufacturing & Machining at EMCC: “I did not know that much about it ... but it turned out that it's something I really enjoy.” Collins graduated in May with a two-year certificate. He started a new job Sept. 12 at Systems Plant Services in Columbus as a precision machinist and computer numerical control (CNC) programmer.

  • Kemper students graduate from workforce pilot program

    East Mississippi Community College President Dr. Thomas Huebner presented the first graduates of a new tuition-free workforce training program, Kemper County Step 2 Success, with their certificates of completion during an Aug. 29 ceremony at the college's Scooba campus.

  • MSU professor emeritus goes back to school at EMCC

    Retired Mississippi State University professor George Adebiyi co-wrote a book on thermodynamics, conducted research for NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center and served as an associate technical editor for the “Journal of Solar Energy Engineering.” Now he's taking a workforce course at EMCC to learn to nuts and bolts of HVAC because he wants to bring inexpensive solar-powered air-conditioning to his native Nigeria.
