I am Raycardo Harper and my mother is Lisa Shields. I am an only child. Playing sports and receiving an education brought me to East Mississippi Community College. I was playing football for EMCC until I decided that I wanted to concentrate more on my education, so I became a student rather than a student‐athlete. I began focusing on classes that would prepare to become radiologic technologist.
What I’m doing:
I chose this particular field of study because I enjoy communicating with others, helping others and working as part of a team. The quality of instruction I am receiving at EMCC in the classroom and the hands‐on experience is very helpful in my everyday life and will be very important in the future as I work to achieve my goals.
The job I see myself doing after graduation is clinical work to obtain more experience in radiology to better assist physicians in making the best diagnoses for their patients. I plan to continue my education after graduating from EMCC to earn a degree in Radiologic Technology‐ Associate of Applied Science.
To get the most out of their time at EMCC, students need to challenge themselves, work hard and never give up on their goals. If they’ll do this, they can earn a degree to better themselves and their families in the future.
His instructor, Jairus “Jay” Johnson, says:
I have had the opportunity to observe Mr. Harper’s work ethic and character. He is very attentive and focused, and displays the essential requirements needed to become a successful radiologic technologist. He is humble, service‐oriented, dedicated, dependable and respectful and will represent EMCC well in his future endeavors.
