Archival, Digital and Special Collections Project
To fulfill its mission of collecting, preserving and making its holdings available to the students and communities it serves, EMCC Libraries at Scooba and Mayhew would like to share the beginnings of an Archival, Digital and Special Collections project.
The EMCC Libraries highlight their collection of yearbooks as the most prominent of their digitized items. Initially serving as Kemper County Agricultural High School since 1912, the college was established in Scooba, Mississippi, during 1927. The first yearbook East Mississippi Junior College published was in 1934.
We are planning to add digitized copies of school newspapers, handbooks, scrapbooks, manuscripts and photographs. Please offer suggestions and we also request your help in locating additional EMCC items and local historical information. If you have items you are willing to loan EMCC for the archives, contact District Librarian Donna Ballard at (662) 243-2617.
This project would not be possible without the EMCC administration and the help of the LYRASIS Mass Digitization Collaborative, which provides libraries the opportunity to digitize and share their collections. The program is supported by LYRASIS members and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. LYRASIS is the nation’s largest regional non-profit membership organization serving libraries, which are comprised of more than 2,500 members, serving more than 6,000 institutions.
