|Why EMCC? I went back to school to learn a trade
A non-traditional student, Daniel Jolly graduated with a Vocational Certificate in Electrical Technology in May 2013: “I was apprehensive about coming back, but I have found that all of my concerns were unfounded and I have had a wonderful experience at EMCC.” Daniel plans to return to EMCC and earn his Associate’s Degree in December 2013.

Tiquanna Phillips earned a Vocational Certificate in Electrical Technology in spring 2013. What’s next for her? She wants to become certified, get a good summer job – and return to East Mississippi Community College in the fall to pursue an Associate’s Degree in the same program.

Glen Guest of West Point graduated from EMCC in spring 2011 with an associate's degree in Electrical Technology. "I had the opportunity after I was laid off to obtain another marketable job skill," Glen said. "I have been in the workforce for many years. So, getting back into the classroom was an adjustment. I chose EMCC for two reasons. First, I had such a positive experience in the Welding and Fabrication Department a few years ago. Second, location … EMCC is close to home."

Andy Ford of Millport, Ala., is a spring 2011 graduate of EMCC's Electrical Technology program. "By age 16, I dropped out of school and began working. Like many young men, I thought I had all the answers," Ford said. "I turned my life around. I shook some bad habits and, with hard work, I was able to earn my GED.
