The Mighty Lion Band, under the direction of Stephen Stringer, performs concerts and halftime shows and participates in many community parades, activities and competitions. The band includes musicians, a Color Guard and the Eastern Belles dance squad.

  • Community colleges host Legislative Appreciation Luncheon

    Community college students, faculty and staff from all over Mississippi gathered at First Baptist Church in Jackson Feb. 27 to host the annual Legislative Appreciation Luncheon. Elected officials stopped by to share a lunch of catfish gumbo and all the trimmings prepared by culinary arts students.

  • Region III Marching Band Festival wows Scooba campus!

    Thousands of high school musicians converged on EMCC's Scooba campus Oct. 11 for the Region III Marching Band Festival. Hosted by the Meridian High School Band Boosters, the annual gathering is a qualifying event for the state marching championship. The Region III festival has been held at EMCC’s Sullivan-Windham Field for the last three years.

  • EMCC seeking guitar players for "The Electric Roar"

    EMCC needs guitar players to help make history. The Mighty Lion Band has teamed with Peavey Electronics of Meridian this summer to create a one-of-a-kind marching guitar line. Dubbed “The Electric Roar” by EMCC President Dr. Rick Young, it will feature six conventional electric guitars and one electric bass guitar.

  • Mighty Lion Band camps coming up in August

    Want to be a member of the Mighty Lion Band? EMCC Band Director Steve Stringer will hold a pair of band camps Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 12-15. Scholarship band positions are still available, but participation in the camps is mandatory.
