Downtown Scooba will host the 1st Annual
Showcase of Scooba this Saturday, Aug. 4, from
8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will be at the former
D&M Grocery, new home of a Scooba historical
museum, a barbecue restaurant and a salon.
The Scooba Focus Group will cut the ribbon on
the new museum and businesses Saturday as
local vendors sell foods and crafts. The Showcase
is one in a series of improvements carried out by
the Scooba Focus Group to secure an incubator
grant to rejuvenate the downtown area. EMCC's Workforce Services division assisted in the grant application process. “We’re going to make Scooba
a retirement community for Mississippi,” said
organizer Debbie Waller, a Scooba native who
recently returned to the area after retirement.
