BILOXI -- For the second time in three years, East Mississippi Community College wrapped up a perfect season by winning a national championship -- topping Georgia Military College 52-32 today at Biloxi Indian Stadium in the 2013 Mississippi Bowl.
With this win, EMCC became the third Mississippi community college (with Gulf Coast and Northwest) to win multiple national championships. The Lions are now 56-10 under head coach Buddy Stephens during the past six seasons -- a period which has also included five MACJC North Division championships and three MACJC state championships.
"You win one, OK, you've won a national title. But you win a second, people start taking notice," Stephens said.
"I've said it before and I'll say it again: Our administration had a vision to make our athletics successful and let the school build off that success and they've given us everything we needed to be successful ... It truly is a great time to be at East Mississippi Community College."
