EMCC teams edged out in MACJC semifinals
The East Mississippi basketball teams both came up short Wednesday in their quest reach the championship game of the 2009 MACJC State Basketball Tournament. The EMCC men dropped a 76-72 decision to Copiah-Lincoln, while the Lady Lions fell, 59-54, to host Jones County in semifinal-round tournament action of the JCJC-hosted event played at Bobcat Gymnasium.

Feb. 24: Capitol Day in Jackson
Educators from all over the state have gathered this morning at the Mississippi Capitol in Jackson to speak to their legislators about the importance of funding for community and junior colleges. A press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. The lead-off speaker is Marilyn Young of East Mississippi Community College, president of the Mississippi Faculty Association for Community and Junior Colleges.  VALENTINE'S DAY Kemper Baptist Association churches packed Valentine “goody bags” for single parents enrolled in career/technical classes at East Mississippi Community College – Scooba Campus. Bags contained toiletries, candy, perfume, nail polish, notepads, lotion and other pampering necessities.
