  • Community colleges seek funding increase from Legislature

    Leaders of Mississippi’s 15 community colleges told the Legislative Budget Committee that for every dollar invested in community colleges by Mississippi taxpayers the payback is that dollar, plus an additional $3.86. “In the business world, you call that a good return on investment. The difference is that when you support community colleges, you aren’t investing in a company, you’re investing in people’s futures,” EMCC President Dr. Thomas Huebner said.

  • EMCC awarded $6.1 million federal grant for "Communiversity"

    U.S. Senator Thad Cochran (R-Miss.), with the Appalachian Regional Commission, today announced the award of a $6.1 million federal grant to East Mississippi Community College to support construction of a workforce training facility focused on increasing Mississippi’s advanced manufacturing and engineering capabilities.

  • Dr. Andrea Mayfield named MCCB's next executive director

    Dr. Andrea Mayfield, former vice president for EMCC's Scooba campus, has been chosen as the next executive director of the Mississippi Community College Board. She replaces Dr. Eric Clark, who retired in June. Mayfield will assume her new duties Dec. 1.

  • Registration open for fall "mini-term" at EMCC

    Registration is going on now for the Second Intensive Fall Semester (or "mini-term") at EMCC. What is a mini-term? If you’ve got the discipline and the desire, it’s a way of taking college credit classes over a shorter period of time, mid-October through early December. Even better, financial aid and scholarships are available.
