  • DA Scott Colom speaks at Black History Month event

    District Attorney Scott Colom was the guest speaker at East Mississippi Community College’s celebration of Black History Month. Colom, who serves District 16, spoke about the debt of gratitude owed to those who fought to abolish slavery, struggled to end segregation, marched for Civil Rights and advocated for laws to grant equal voting rights to all.

  • EMCC Intercollegiate Rodeo moves to Lauderdale Agri-Center

    More than 200 college cowboys and cowgirls will compete Feb. 23-25 at the Lauderdale County Agri-Center during a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association event hosted by the East Mississippi Community College Rodeo Team. Gates open nightly at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and $5 for students. Admission is free for children age 5 and younger.

  • Lauderdale students tour Golden Triangle, Lion Hills locations

    About 300 Lauderdale County high school students are touring EMCC's Golden Triangle campus and Lion Hills Center to learn about the college’s Career-Technical Division. Last Friday, some 160 students from Northeast Lauderdale High School visited. This Friday, about 140 students from West Lauderdale High School will do the same. The tours were timed to coincide with National Career and Technical Education Month.

  • Rape prevention specialist speaks to EMCC students, staff

    A renowned speaker who has dedicated her life to preventing sexual assault brought her message to EMCC's Stennis Auditorium. Katie Koestner, executive director of Take Back The Night Foundation and president of Campus Outreach Services, spoke to close to 400 people, including EMCC students and employees, and members of the community.

EMCC outplayed Iowa Western, 34-17, Dec. 7 at the Mississippi Bowl to claim its third NJCAA national football championship in four years.
