Purpose
The
Center for Manufacturing Technology Excellence (CMTE) is a major
new initiative of the Partnership for Industry and Education
to link two universities (one a major research university), a
technical training center and several economic development organizations.
This
effort is designed to improve the East Mississippi region's ability
to provide highly skilled, technically proficient workers. Additionally,
the Center will enhance the delivery of technology transfer services,
assisting new and existing industries with improved productivity.
The
Center will assist area companies in reaching and in maintaining
a competitive posture in a 21st century global economy. Companies
and workers must learn to use evolving technology in an age when
manufacturing will be dominated by the use of information.
