  • EMCC trustees name Dr. Thomas Huebner as next president

The East Mississippi Community College Board of Trustees named Dr. Thomas Huebner as president of the college Monday night during a regular meeting. Currently serving as dean of student services at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Huebner will succeed Dr. Rick Young, who retires June 30 after 11 years leading the college.

  • Scooba campus hosts annual Awards Day ceremony

East Mississippi Community College's Scooba campus held its annual Awards Day on April 21. Instructors from academic and career-technical programs recognized their most outstanding students from the past year, along with Scholar Athletes, Class Favorites, Mr. & Mrs. EMCC and students named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

  • Eric Ford honored at LINK Education Excellence Luncheon

Every day is Casual Friday in science instructor Eric Ford’s class. Generally outfitted in his trademark ponytail, untucked (frequently Hawaiian) shirt and cargo pants, Ford doesn’t look like the most buttoned-down instructor at EMCC’s Golden Triangle campus. Yet, he was the one recognized Wednesday at Lion Hills in Columbus as the Golden Triangle Development LINK’s 2015 Post-Secondary Educator of the Year.

  • From Augusta National to Lion Hills, guest chef chips in

Fresh off of cooking at Augusta National Golf Club during the Masters, Chef Carlos Montemayor visited Columbus on Wednesday to help out an old friend, EMCC culinary instructor and Lion Hills chef Matt Molina. The timing couldn’t have been better -- Lion Hills served 300 lunch guests during the LINK’s Education Excellence Luncheon and civic club meetings.
