  • Electrical student starts his own business before graduation

Graduation couldn’t come fast enough for one EMCC Electrical Technology student. So he started his own business in April. Joey Brackin of Starkville is set to graduate in December with an associate’s degree in Electrical Technology from EMCC’s Golden Triangle campus. But as he neared the finish line, he couldn’t wait to get to work, so he got a local contractor license from the city and some insurance and fired up his one-man company, Pro Electric.

  • EMCC rolls out 2-for-1 offer on intensive "mini-term" courses

The clock is ticking on a new two-for-one promotion on intensive "mini-term" classes at EMCC. What is a mini-term? It's a way of taking college credit classes over a shorter period of time, from mid-October through early December. Anyone who is not currently enrolled in an EMCC class and signs up for an intensive semester as a part-time student before the beginning of the “mini-term” is eligible. Students who meet these criteria and pay cash for their first three-hour EMCC class will receive free tuition on a second three-hour EMCC class. Mini-term classes start Oct. 13 at four EMCC locations. The online mini-term starts Oct. 20.

  • EMCC students attend Southern Invitational Choral Festival

Members of the East Mississippi Community College Choir and Reflection Singers participated in the Southern Invitational Choral Conference Sept. 29-30 at the University of Southern Mississippi and performed in a mass choir of 300 voices at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg.
