Knocking down barriers ...
Some people say community colleges are the best-kept secret
in Mississippi, but that’s where you’ll find more than 70 percent
of all college freshmen in the Magnolia State. Expand the view a little, and you’ll discover that about half of all undergraduates in the state are attending community colleges.
At EMCC, we’re all about knocking down the barriers that stand between people and opportunity.
- If the barrier is financial, we have a district-wide tuition guarantee program for new high school graduates from Lowndes, Oktibbeha, Clay, Noxubee, Kemper and Lauderdale counties. We also have a wide range of scholarships, financial aid and work study programs.
- We’ve knocked down the barrier of distance by offering classes throughout the EMCC district. You’re probably less than a 20-minute drive from main campuses and extensions in Mayhew, Scooba, Columbus Air Force Base, West Point, Macon and Naval Air Station Meridian.
- If you can’t attend traditional classes because you work
full-time, or have other scheduling conflicts, EMCC offers evening classes, as well as online classes through Mississippi Virtual Community College.
- If you’ve lost your job, EMCC offers career-technical
and vocational programs that can equip you with a
new skill set. EMCC is also the home of the Center for Manufacturing Technology Excellence, where our Workforce Services staff provides short-term training in
a wide range of occupational areas. The Workforce staff
is expert at matching up its training programs with the needs of business and industry in EMCC's six-county district.
We’re thinking all the time about ways to make education more accessible to more people. And we’re here to help you take the next step … so call on us if we can help.
