  • Good GED news: "Pass" score lowered ... retroactively

Earning a GED just got easier. The company that administers GED testing for many states has lowered the score it takes to pass each subject area from 150 to 145. Officials with GED Testing Service announced the changes Jan. 26, explaining that data shows students who took the GED test were being held to a higher academic standard than their counterparts in high school.

  • GED testing now available at EMCC's Scooba campus

Some area residents who wish to take the GED test won’t have to drive as far to do so. EMCC now offers GED testing at its Scooba campus, a service previously available only at the Golden Triangle campus in Mayhew.

  • EMCC's GED students earn diplomas, set new goals

At the age of 46, Eupora resident Tammy Ranae Miley is ready to begin a new chapter in her life. She was among 18 Launch Pad adult basic education students who received their GED diplomas Dec. 15 during an East Mississippi Community College graduation ceremony at Lion Hills in Columbus.
