  • Why EMCC? The paper mill closed ...

    Daran Stone graduated from EMCC on May 11 with two Associate of Science degrees and an Associate of Arts degree. He decided to go back to school when Domtar closed and he lost his job. "I needed to improve my skills, so I would be more diversified and have more options," Stone said. "Obviously, I want to find a good job with a stable company." In this story, Daran looks back at his time at EMCC ... and offers some advice to future students.

  • Heard it one too many times ... "You didn't go to college"

    Beverly Hardin of Macon graduated with highest honors from East Mississippi Community College on May 12, earning a vocational certificate in the Health Care Assistant program. "I watched gifted family members drop out of school, and I tried to talk them into staying in school and going to college. I got this answer every time, 'You didn’t go to college.' So, that’s my motivation." In this story, Beverly looks back at her experience at EMCC ... and what's next.

  • Eastern Belles auditions

    Auditions for the Eastern Belles, a new dance line at East Mississippi Community College, will be Saturday, May 19. The squad will consist of 12 to 18 members. It will perform as part of the Mighty Lion Band and will coordinate with the Mighty Lion Color Guard.

  • Why EMCC? I consider myself an artist ...

    Jesse Pounders graduated from EMCC on Friday, May 11, with an associate's degree in welding and fabrication. "I like the idea of creating works of art to be enjoyed and used, things that are functional as well as aesthetically pleasing, whether it is a bush hog, bridge or bottle tree," Pounders said. In this story, he takes a look at his experience at EMCC ... and what's next.

Summer and fall semesters ...
Choose one that suits your schedule
Three summer semesters begin on May 29 --
the summer full-term semester, the 1st intensive summer semester and the eLearning/online summer semester. The 2nd intensive summer semester begins July 2. And, looking ahead, the fall full-term semester begins Aug. 20.
